We are delighted to embark on a significant new European initiative, “Bio-based in Soil applications with Optimal biodegradation in their Ultimate Life – The SOUL project.” Over the next four years, we will be developing this groundbreaking project led by Aitiip Centro Tecnologico alongside 16 other leading participants.
The project is supported by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) and its members under the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme.
The project aims to produce innovative bio-based and biodegradable-in-soil product solutions. SOUL seeks to prevent contamination from traditional plastics, which significantly impair soil health and fertility, and lead to human health hazards.
EvoEnzyme will play a significant role in the SOUL project, participating in the production and upscaling of novel enzymes designed for improved biodegradability in soil. Our core work is focused on the identification and selection of enzyme variants capable of effectively degrading biobased polyesters in soil applications.
