ARYL ALCOHOL OXIDASES
The aryl alcohol oxidase (AAO) activity on a broad range of alcohols and aldehydes together with the production of H2O2 from atmospheric O2 have awakened biotechnological interests for several potential industrial applications.
The gradual release of H2O2 can fit self-sufficient systems (e.g. with peroxidases/peroxygenases) for efficient cascade reactions.
The mutant evolved AAOs from EvoEnzyme present high enantioselectivity on different aromatic primary and secondary substrates, allowing the resolution of chiral mixtures of alcohols.
